This is the region of our current work. We travel from our home in the United Arab Emirates to various work sites in these countries. The language group with whom we work is a semi-nomadic tribal culture on the fringes of society. They do not recognize national borders, crossing them freely through mountains and deserts with their herds or to visit other members of their tribes. Our goals as we work with this people group are:
- To mobilize prayer for the spiritual and physical needs of this neglected people.
- To reduce the grinding poverty they experience.
- To see that they are offered the option to know God by following Jesus.
- Among those who choose this Way, to promote their gatherings, their spiritual growth, and the training of their leaders.”
Central Asian Drought
There have been periods of good rain, but overall, the last decade has been one of severe water shortage. The drought affecting the region causes migrations of one ethnic group into the territory historically occupied by another ethnic group, as well as migrations from rural areas to already overcrowded cities. We have heard reports of rural and nomadic people traveling up to five days by camel to a well to fill up large skin bladders with water to take back to their people.
